RECOMMENDATIONS
to the
CANBY URBAN RENEWAL DISTRICT AGENCY BOARD
from the
Urban Renewal District Advisory Committee

The following were recommendations made on January 10, 2002

The Committee enthusiastically recommends Sequoia Parkway to 4th Avenue as the number one project to be considered by the Urban Renewal District.

The committee recognizes that the URD cannot and would not pay for the entire road. Other sources of funding need to be addressed. It is also noted that the home/property owners want a first quality industrial area and feel the area needs to be set up and marketable before it can be sold. Discussion needs to take place with the IAA property owners to further the progress of the industrial park as per a recommendation to the Agency on September 14, 2001.

The next project recommendations are in alphabetical order, the Committee chose not to rank these, but felt they were vital to do in the next five years.

  • Railroad parking lot including First Avenue improvements, including a market building/transit center.
  • Second Avenue improvements, Ivy to Grant Street.
  • Sequoia Parkway to Township Road. (Noted that the Schools in the area will be needing this route by 2006)
  • Wait Park streets, curbs and sidewalks without the restrooms.

The Committee passed the recommendations 12-0.

The Committee wanted to emphasis to the Agency that Sequoia Parkway is number one. The planning and identification of funding sources need to start immediately. The other projects need to be planned and worked simultaneously.
